Regular mopping cleans the surface of your floor. Floor stripping and waxing rebuilds the surface itself. These are fundamentally different services that serve different purposes. In a climate this humid, a floor that is only ever mopped holds a film that mopping cannot lift. Mopping removes today's dirt. Stripping and waxing removes months or years of embedded grime and lays down a fresh protective layer that changes how your floor looks, feels, and wears.
A mop and floor cleaner lifts loose dirt and spills from the wax surface. It keeps the floor looking acceptable between deeper treatments. But each mopping session also leaves a microscopic residue of cleaning product behind. Over months, these layers build up, creating a dull, sticky, or yellowish film on the floor. This is why some floors look worse after mopping, not better.
A chemical stripping solution dissolves every layer of old wax, along with all the dirt, cleaning product residue, and scuff marks trapped within those layers. A floor machine agitates the solution and lifts the dissolved material. The result is a bare floor surface, clean down to the original material. This is the reset that no amount of mopping can achieve.
Multiple thin coats of floor finish (commonly called wax) are applied to the bare floor. Each coat dries to a hard, clear layer. Each wax coat needs 20 to 30 minutes to dry, and 3 to 5 coats are typically applied. The floor should not be walked on for 4 to 6 hours after the final coat. The result is a floor that looks and feels completely new, with a uniform shine that will last months with basic maintenance.
